Why did you choose WVU?
I chose WVU because I loved the campus. The first time that I stepped on
campus, I knew I was meant to be a Mountaineer.

Please describe the impact that receiving a
scholarship has had on you and your education.
Receiving a scholarship has had a significant impact on me and my
education. I am thankful to the donor because the scholarship is helpful,
and now I can put my money towards something else. I am very grateful
as any scholarship assistance has a very big impact on my family and me.

Condolences to Muir West and the entire West family

Our sincere condolences go out to Muir West and the entire West family on the passing of our North Coast Cleveland WVU Alumni Treasurer Emeritus Stan West.  Many of you may remember some of Stan’s humorous Treasurer’s reports at one of our annual scholarship Spring Dinners.

Up until recently Stan was an active member of our NCC Alumni Steering Committee and his guidance and out-going personality will be greatly missed.

We will be sending a donation to our Stanley E. Friedman North Coast Cleveland WVU Scholarship Fund in Stan’s name on behalf of our NCC Alumni Chapter.

Below is Stan’s obituary with details of his memorial service this Saturday.

A Big Thank You From NCC WVU Alumni!!!

A BIG THANK YOU to all of our alumni and friends who have sent in their dues and scholarship donations . . . it is very much appreciated!

We would also like to announce that Les Stone of Mentor, OH has donated $5000 dollars to our scholarship fund!

Les is one of our long time chapter members and his donation is in memory of his wife Alice J. Stone, also an NCC Alum.  Sadly Alice passed away on May 8, 2021 just short of her 88th birthday.

Many may remember Alice from our past Spring Annual Scholarship events where she sometimes preformed dulcimer music prior to dinner.  It was during their visits to West Virginia that Alice began her

interest in dulcimer music.

Our entire chapter thanks you Les for the generosity of your donation in honoring your love for Alice.

Also, a friendly Mountaineer reminder to all those who would still like to donate.  Please support our chapter scholarship!

Every cent that is received after our small operating costs go towards our “Stanley E. Friedman North Coast Cleveland Alumni Scholarship Fund”.

This endowment helps support the Northeast Ohio student chosen by the WVU Foundation to receive the annual scholarship.

The 2021-2022 Northeast Ohio scholarship recipient is Chloe Gobble from Stow, OH.

Thank you and “Go Mountaineers”!

How has this scholarship had an impact on your
life?
Being a recipient of the North Coast Cleveland Alumni Scholarship has
had an extremely positive impact on me. Being able to receive this
scholarship has relieved a considerable amount of financial stress over
college. Additionally, my scholarships have also helped to promote me
to work my hardest in college. They have been a gigantic honor in that
individuals I have never met have invested in my future. They have
helped to remind me to be focused on both my educational and career
goals.
Please provide a statement of thanks to the donor
who made your scholarship possible.
Thank you! I really have appreciated having individuals who have
invested in my future! This scholarship has been an extreme honor as
well as a reminder to continue working hard for my academic goals.
Additionally, the scholarship has led me to be able to focus more on my
education because it has made school more affordable. I really
appreciate the financial support and everything that allows me more
freedom to accomplish. I would again like to thank you, as I am so
grateful for the people who helped to support my future and education.

WVU 2019 Brand Ambassadors

THIS IS YOUR CHANCE.

To inspire the next generation.
Ever wish you could share your WVU story and become a brand ambassador for the gold and blue? This is your chance. On October 10, the Old Gold New Blue program is hosting Ask Us Anything in Cleveland, a uniquely fun, laid-back event for the current and prospective students and families, as well as alumns and staff (no stuffy PowerPoints, we promise).

And we want you to help us tell the WVU story and inspire the next generation with your experiences. Along the way, you’ll learn everything you didn’t already know about WVU, from how we’re helping students find their purpose to how we’re uplifting the state—one community at a time.

The event is very casual, so no prepared remarks are necessary. We welcome prospective students and parents, and we’d like alumni to mingle and mix with new families to share their great experiences, answer any questions they may have, or point them in the right direction.

Join us.

WVU Alumni Day of Service

A group of local WVU alumni volunteered at the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning for the Annual WVU Alumni Day of Service on October 27. The Center for Arts-Inspired Learning creates innovative learning experiences that empower students to succeed in school, in their first jobs and beyond. The day of service was a great opportunity for alumni to stay connected with their alma matter and embrace its mission to advance education and prosperity for all.
